The first IceMUN was hosted in the autumn of 2003 by students of Political Science, who had been introduced to Model UN during a trip abroad. The conference was funded by the United Nations Association of Iceland and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Participants simulated a United Nations Security Council session where the warfare in Iraq was discussed, but during the same time the actual conflict was close to its peak. NorMUN helped organizing the first conference in Iceland which demonstrated clearly the importance of collaboration between Model UN associations.
